Endless quest for improvement in engineering excellence
STAM was established in 1963 by Luigi Sacca and today employs 130 people in buildings covering 11,000 m2 on a 40,000 m2 site. The company’s philosophy for achieving ever greater engineering excellence is based on nurturing maximum cooperation between all personnel so that full advantage is derived from the wide ranging skills that are available. As a result, the company has become not just a European but a world leader in roll forming and sheet metal processing machinery. Every activity for every project is scrutinised and monitored from start to finish, making full use of the knowledge and experience of all personnel. There is a constant exchange of ideas between all concerned leading to endless improvement in the quality of STAM products.

Professional Partnership
Building up the closest possible professional partnership with our customers is fundamental to bringing any project to a conclusion that will meet all technical, production and economic requirements to the fullest possible extent. Procedures are set up which will involve striking a number of balances: between keeping things as simple as possible to bring down costs, against flexibility for possible future requirements, and between the advantages and the disadvantages of using more (or less) advanced, modern, control technology. Major considerations from the outset will be the full range of work to be accommodated and hence the extent of changeovers, together with the frequency of changeovers and the time that can be allowed for these. Although it is fundamental that these questions are gone into at the outset, our policy of nurturing our professional relationship with our customers enables these matters to be reviewed as appropriate from the time of planning the investment through to building, testing and installation and throughout the life of the product. It is also part of the basis for ongoing, quick, reliable, and complete service (Teleservice).

STAM Quality
Every process of the productive cycle is internally managed by STAM, covering mechanical, electric, and software planning, building (fabricating, machining, assembling and painting); mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic testing at our plant (and finally at the customer’s works); installation after delivery to the customer. The aim is to achieve a perfect match between our customers’ requirements and the equipment we supply. Our procedures fully meet the requirements of UNI EN ISO 9001: 2000 and STAM’s system is certified by DNV to comply with this standard.

Research and development
STAM’s position of leadership rests on ongoing investment in research and development. Full advantage is taken of computer methods throughout all offices and departments. Particularly noteworthy is the highly successful system for production planning and control and for the functions of the sales department. There are also systems for scrutinising the technical capability, functionality and safety of every line and its component parts. Mechanical components are machined on numerically controlled machine tools to ensure accuracy and quality and provide the basis for interchangeability of replacement parts, should these be required in the future. STAM has at its disposal a high level of software expertise which brings a special advantage to the control system of the lines they supply, enabling the systems to be precisely matched to each customer’s requirements.
